We interrupt the regularly scheduled Monday post on writing to bring you this news.
This weekend I attended the Colorado Gold Conference held in Denver, and hosted each year by Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers. The theme this year was; Nuggets of Knowledge. The three day event had multiple workshops featuring many lessons in the writing craft designed to instruct both the beginner and advanced writer.
In addition there were many workshops with special guests that presented on specific material such as weapons, the facts of death, psychological disorders, the Internet, costumes and more. No matter your genre, there was something for you.
I especially enjoyed the workshop on costumes. I’ve been looking for a costume specialist and learned many interesting facts. On Friday I will give a more detailed account of this with a link, I promise.
I don’t want to fail to mention the many agents and editors that attended. We had panels as well as pitch sessions and many writers came back with a thumbs up sign. Their manuscript was requested in part or all. Good luck to all of them.
I must say that my favorite part of conference was meeting so many wonderful writers. Each time I was greeted with; “What are you writing?” or “What is your genre?” Writers are the most generous people. Each of us freely shares our stories and we listen to the other person’s ideas with encouraging words. The entire hotel seemed to vibrate with our laughter and open discussions. I had the great pleasure of meeting Patricia Stoltey, we have been online friends.
During the week I will post more specific information about all the different aspects of the conference. Today, I’m recovering from an exciting and enjoyable time, yet exhausting.

Oh, I'm glad you had a good time. I know many from our blogging community did go.

Jules, when you write about medieval times or any other, it helps to have a resource available who is willing to confirm, yeah, that's what they wore, or to give you some detail you didn't learn about.
Clarissa, it was wonderful, and I'm glad some of your friends made it.

Hey Stephen, you should go. There is nothing more encouraging then a good writer's conference.

It was my 1st conference, and was one of the best things I've done for myself in years! My project moved forward, and I got to hang out with a bunch of incredibly cool folks for a few days. Looking for another one to attend now.
Pikes Peak holds their conference in the spring in Colorado Springs, maybe I'll see you there Marilyn.
Nancy
I should clarify that. Pikes Peak Writers, their link is on my site.
