On Monday I talk about the writing craft. Some aspect that I am struggling with myself or something new I have learned or something I think would be a benefit to all my writer friends out there. I think learning about the craft of writing is beneficial to everyone regardless of their profession. Writing and writing well is a valued commodity. It is part of the way we communicate with one another.
If you have never heard of NaNoWrMo, then I am surprised. I think 90% of the bloggers I visit our participating. I am not. I am buried in edits. However, I am going to take advantage of the same type of goal setting as NaNoWrMo produces in our friends who are participating. My forum will be, GetThatEditDone Month.
True confession: In October I was very sick. First a sinus infection and before I was well I got strep throat. I still have a soar tongue, if you can believe that. I was literally in the fog mentally for three weeks. That meant, for three weeks I didn’t get any editing done. So starting today, I am focusing on my edits big time. I need to get this book done.
My editing is taking a two part course. Part one; scour my manuscript for ‘ly’ and ‘ing’ words and fix them if at all possible. I have currently completed 24 chapters. Part two; implement the suggestions that I receive back from my editor.
You will be able to see my progress on the side bar and I hope you will cheer me on.
Goal: My goal is to finish my edits in part 1 and then to finish the suggested edits in part 2 by the end of November 2010. So on Mondays in November, I will share the progress that I have completed and I will update the side bar as often as need be during the week. I have no idea if any of you will find this interesting, so to keep it less of an; I did this today blog post, I will ask you to tell me what you want to know about my WIP. (Work in progress). You may ask anything, I will answer it if I can.
It is a high fantasy.
So folks, what would you like to know?

That's a great idea! Happy revising!
Thank you Pk.

Sounds like you've got a great plan going on. After these November revisions, will you be querying the project?
Good question Joanne. I will be e-publishing, next Monday I will share more details on this.
Nancy
Kudos to the editing plan. Glad you are finally feeling better. :)
I just noticed that bullying ribbon, love it. Can I get one?

I'm going to devote two hours each day (I hope) to my own wip. The problem is that life intrudes and it seems my writing comes in second some days, last on others. Hope you have a healthy autumn and can keep on schedule, Nancy.
Sorry to hear you were so sick in October, I hope November is better for you! Sounds like a good goal. And, personally I think it is much healthier than NaNO!!
KK, you are so right about our intruding life.
Melissa, I agree about NaNo, I'd go insane.
Thank you both for your comments.
Nancy
Your month sounds fascinating to me at least. I will watch you as much as other friends on NaNo.
Best of luck!
Thank you Mary.

I'm revising this month in some places it more like a totally rewrite. So, I wish you luck! I'm already behind and should stop visiting blogs for a while to get some work done. ;)
We're thinking along the same lines. I can't decide whether I like the revelations of creating a piece ... or the results of revision when you turn the ideas into something worth while.
Good luck with good outcomes.
Thank you Holly and Kay for leaving a comment and good luck with yours as well.
NR.
Good luck on your edits!
Thanks for the link for the Stop Bullying. I just joined and am putting it on my blog.
I don't think I have any questions but that are some great goals. I hope you get your edits done.

Best of work (not luck:) with revising!
Thank you Lydia, I am glad your grabbing the ribbon.
A challenge shared is a challenge completed, at least that is my hope Clarissa.
Agreed Deni, best of work.
Thank you all for leaving a comment.

Hi Nancy! Thanks for sharing your story on my blog--I am deeply sorry for your loss.
Best of luck to you for completing your goals for the month. I'm not participating in Nano either--I'm working on revisions. MUCH slower than writing a first draft, LOL!
Your welcome Lddiamond. And thank you for dropping in and leaving a comment.
