The Crazy Holiday Blogfest & London Fireworks on New Year's Day 2010 - New Year Live - BBC One

Christine at Christine’s Journey is hosting The Crazy Holiday Blogfest. You can check out all the other participants at Christine’s blog site. A big thank you to Christine for this great idea.

Rules:
Since the holiday time is all around us, and it gets a little crazy, I thought I would host a blogfest about the holidays. Any holiday. It could take place in Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. It could be a scene from a WiP, a new piece you may have started, something totally random, but it should include a holiday (any one holiday, remember).

Since this is my first blogfest as hostess, I'm not sure how long it should be --Let's keep it to 250 words or less if you can.

New Year Holiday 2010

Billy Bob grabbed my hand. We stayed close, our coats and hats made us warm. The crowd jostled us. Their excitement was contagious. We’d been on the banks of the Thames River all day, waiting along with many others.

This was our first anniversary. We have a plan, every year for New Years we will visit a different city. This year it’s London, next year it will be Sydney, after that who knows?

We drank our hot chocolate latte’s. The crowd began to chant the numbers, 10, 9, 8…we joined in. Our west Texas accident is so different from the British who gather near.

7, 6, 5… Billy Bob grinned at me and I hugged him. 4, 3, 2…the next second…1.
Big Ben struck twelve and as the world’s most famous clock continued to announce the New Year, fireworks exploded all around. The smell of sulfur traveled on the breeze. A thrill ran through me.

Billy Bob recorded the show on DVD. I jumped up and down. Being married to Billy Bob had changed my ho-hum life for the good. I loved him and together we would overcome our dull past and forge ahead with new and happy memories.

The End.

This is dedicated to all my blogging friends wherever you are in the world. Love and kisses for a bright and brilliant future.

Enjoy the show!

Lovely story Nancy! Thanks for the dedication but I'll be doing the usual sitting around aggravating my furry friends. Nothing is exciting in KY :)

I have been many places around the world, but I have yet to get to London! I know, it is a must. How great would it be to see those fireworks in person? Putting it on my bucket list!

Such a fun idea to travel to a different city every New Years! And those fireworks are amazing! I love this.

N. R. Williams said...

Thank you Golden and Meredith. I couldn't resist that idea when I looked at so many firework displays in preparation for this story. It wanted to make me write about each one. That gave birth to visiting. Thank you both for dropping by and leaving a comment.

I have to admit I have never been up to London for the New Year - I wouldn't be able to get home again! The fireworks are pretty spectacular though.

I think I married the wrong man - he doesn't take me to a new city to celebrate New Year's. Hum, maybe he didn't get the romance memo LOL. I enjoyed your piece and the wonderful video! Thanks for sharing! :D

What a lovely idea - New Year, new city. It's a beautiful moment to see the broadcasts of the fireworks all around the world as we get here. Sydney is spectaculare with the harbour bridge aflame and thousands of boats on the harbour.

Thx for adding to the craziness Nancy!

Oh, and the Cairns I know is in North Queensland, just 1200+ kilometres north of me but still in the same state!

London Baby! we know how to do it right. How are you doing Nancy dear? you should really plan a visit.

N. R. Williams said...

It was between Sydney and London L'Aussie. But Big Ben won the day. Thanks for telling me where Cairns is.

Hi Joanna...I would so love to visit. My ancestors where Scot. Maybe when I become rich and famous from my books. Hahahaha.
