Happy Halloween! Well, almost...next Monday.
Is it in the cards that I begin a new writing series? Or is it just plain spooky? LOL
Whatever the case may be we start something new today that I will call The Writing Craft. You may notice I have a new blog called the same thing, N. R. Williams, The Writing Craft. So here we go.
I am going to need your help. Yes I am. We all struggle with various aspects of writing. After more than 18 years I've learned a lot. In those 18 years I've attended writer's conferences and workshops as well as being the moderator of a critique group. It's time to share a little information.
So what do you struggle with? What lessons can I share?
Here is a partial list of things:
Voice
Back story
Too much Information
Show don't Tell
POV
Description
Dialogue
1st person/3rd person
Genre
Or something else entirely?
I will answer your questions, one at a time, in as much as a single post will allow. For hands on training with a more in-depth challenge and critique, go to N. R. Williams, The Writing Craft and sign up for classes via e-mail.
Cheers,
Nancy

Hey, that looks interesting.
Hi Bryan, nice to meet you. Thanks for dropping by.
Nancy
Definitely looks interesting, I read all genres so how do writers decide which genres to write for?
How to add enough description the first time through! I'm the only author I know who has to go bad and add a ton rather than cut out.
Hi Riya, I'll add your question to the list.
Good question Alex. I will address this in one of my post.
Thank you both for coming by.

How to avoid info dumping yet add the right amount of backstory.
Looking forward to this series. :)
You're on the list Golden. Thanks for coming by.

Hi, Nancy,
How sweet of you to help your fellow struggling writers.
Golden took my question, but if I think of something else I will drop back.
I hope all is well with you and your family.
Hi Michael, I'll put you down under that question. It counts because the most votes will be answered first.

Hello all visiting bloggers. Today I meet with my in person critique group so I may not get around much. Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment.
