Insecure Writer's Support Group

It's time for another addition of ISWG, created by Alex J. Cavanuagh.

Today I'm going to make this short. In the post below you'll find my two newest e-books. Both are flash fiction stories and in the next couple weeks I'll have an additional 5 join  them. I'm hoping that readers will finally discover me. Trapped Memories Linger will be free as soon as Amazon changes the status.

Why am I Insecure?

Well, that has to do with my general inability to believe in myself. All I can say is; how we raise our children matters. What we instill in them is important. Even so, life sometimes leaves a stable person wounded. I am one of those. But I have the attitude. "Never give up, never surrender." Galaxy Quest.

I'll let you know if my strategy works.

Even if you don't believe in yourself, I believe in you! I am working on two short stories to bring into eBook format, too. :) And I personally think it's a great idea. It's enough to entice a reader and it's fast so they are most likely to read it asap, verses longer books that they may have to hold off on reading because their TBR list is already so long.

I checked out the first one and since it is so short (6 pages), you could offer it for free. Even though it's .99, some readers may not want to pay that for flash fiction. I know many authors hate the idea of putting their work for free, but it can help to attract many more people. Just an idea.

Good luck with your stories!

Hi Nancy - life can be tough .. but getting through is the important thing and improving as we go ... and as you say raising a child with the right ethos and understanding of the future ahead, some of the pitfalls, but the ideas and possibilities too - opportunities do abound ... Good for you .. cheers Hilary

We all have this happen to us, I think, from time to time, if not all the time! I too, have so many doubts and insecurities about what I do and if I'll ever ever be good enough. Then I remind myself to breathe. That I am a good person and am blessed to be loved and cherished. I try and give that back 100 fold. Then I sit myself down and get back to work. I'll only be as good as what I can create, so I better get my "butt" in gear and create, just like you!!! Keep goin' girl, because you're the only one who can do what YOU do!

Hi Chrys
That is precisely why Trapped Memories Linger is free. I plan on having between one and two books available for free all the time.

Hi Hilary
Agreed.

Hi Lisa
What you said is very true.

I echo what Chrys said, Nancy. I downloaded Wisteria and I felt a bit ripped off when it finished in so few pages. I think readers will feel ripped off with anything under 5,000 or so words, considering you can buy a whole novel for 99c most of the time. Perhaps you'd be better making one flash fiction anthology. I'm thinking of doing that and mine will have maybe 4 stories in each series, totalling about 10,000 words.

Just my opinion. If readers feel ripped off they won't buy your next book.
