Welcome to another Insecure Writers Support Group post created by Alex J. Cavanaugh. It's September, 2015!
My thoughts have turned toward Halloween and with that in mind I'm working on some flash fiction for a Halloween Collection. I'm not a horror writer so mine will be more on the silly to thoughtful side. I have 7 stories that my critique group is looking at. Here's the subjects:
Faerie, Ghouls out trick or treating, Ghost. Zombie. Vampire and Nymph. I believe I have two ghost stories but without looking I can't remember. I wrote most last year and added the nymph and vampire this year.
So, what are you doing? Are you going to enter the IWSG anthology? I need to look into that myself.

I never win contests but the suffering builds character! :-) You know me, fantasy and horror are my genre. I am trying to put the finishing touches on a Kindle book, TALES TO BE TOLD AT MIDNIGHT -- right now, the short story, EDISON'S MANSION, is being contrary. September does come earlier each year, doesn't it?
Hi Nancy - good for you ... I can't believe I'm thinking of Halloween and our Gunpowder (Guy Fawkes) November 5th ... already .. and the Autumn leaves haven't really started falling yet - close!
Good for you .. and that IWSG anthology sounds a great idea - good luck -cheers Hilary
~Oooo vampire and Nymph sounds interesting :D Good luck!
Thanks Roland, Hilary and Savera, for your comments.

I like the idea of ghouls going trick-or-treating. :)
I don't write the genre for the anthology, but I know there will be a lot of good stories!
Nice selection of themes. Hope you can submit something to the anthology!
Argh, Hallowe'en already? I still feel like we haven't really had summer yet. But then I do live in England ;)
I love the idea of real monsters out trick or treating, there's definitely a story in there!
Halloween is my favorite holiday.
Best of luck w/ your projects!
I'm interested in the anthology, too!
Thanks for sharing with the IWSG!

Hi Nancy,
Gosh, I didn't even realize your blog wasn't in my blog roll. Remedied that! I don't recall another year where Halloween was mentioned this early, but that may just be my fading memory. I've been talking about it since Denise and I kick started the WEP, but I've seen others talking about it too. One blogger already has her lights up and is posting Halloween picture. Love it.
Good for you a book of short for Halloween. I'm working on my own and it's supposed to be up this month, if I quit procrastinating. Just need some format tweaking and I'm set. Wishing us both luck in that regard.
Happy IWSG - a great idea the anthology!
I love ghost stories but am still trying to master mimicking certain styles. You've just inspired me. ;)
Thanks all.

Hi Nancy. I hope you'll consider entering the Halloween competition for Write...Edit...Publish. I just attended a masterclass on writing horror etc today. Fantastic. I don't think I'd try to go up against people who write speculative fiction all the time for the IWSG competition.
Hope you are well. Missed you at WEP. We had a fabulous turnout with great entries for Settings.
Denise :-)
Hi! I always get excited for Halloween early, but I never really think to write anything for it. I like your collection of themes! I'm hoping to look into the anthology for IWSG, but I'm not entirely sure about it as I haven't written many short stories. It definitely seems like fun, though, and I hope to hear more about it if you choose to enter!
-Shannon
Good to hear from you Denise and Shannon.
