Hi everyone, welcome to the December 2012 Insecure Writer's Support Group post, brain child of Alex J. Cavanaugh.. I thought I would post on the Holidays. It seems appropriate, don't you think?
Every year at this time numerous people go completely bananas. Usually these same people lead fairly normal lives, but with the frenzy that is modern Holidays, they turn into crazed individuals trying to do, spend, have, celebrate, too much. Are you one of them?
On the flip side you have those who become anti social and allow the 'spirit of the Holidays' to run them into a deep depression. Usually attributed to the fact that they can't financially do, spend, have, celebrate, too much. Are you one of them?
More importantly, is your character(s) one of these types and why?
Often our characters enhance one or more of our own emotions. Their joy or their hardship spills over them flooding everyone around them with the same emotion. They ooze tension, despair, excitement, or happiness.
As for me, I have a triple wammie. My birthday is the 18th and my husband is the 27th. This year we are broke and have been for about four years now. So I am buying gifts for the grandchildren and nothing for myself, my husband or my own children. Even so, you can still make something memorable out of the season. We went on a pine cone hunt and I bought Elmer's glue and glitter at the Dollar Tree, for $1.00 each. My grandchildren are having a lot of fun making their own ornaments and I look like grandma glitter. LOL
Recipe: Put glue all over the pine cone. Open the glitter and sprinkle. Attach a string. And there you have it, a glittered pine cone.
Happy Holidays everyone.
Nancy
