Acute Bronchitis

Acute Bronchitis

I have never really thought about any kind of lung disease. Sure, I've had colds. I suffer from sinusitis on a regular basis. I don't have asthma, allergies nor have I ever had pneumonia. I have never smoked a day in my life though I have been around people who did.

Bronchitis can occur with a cold. It is pretty much a normal part of the process. But acute bronchitis, let me tell you, the pain is out of this world. I have a high tolerance for pain and I gave this a nine. I couldn't catch my breath for about 20 hours. The pain wrapped around my left side and bruised my lungs. If you've ever had heartburn give this one a ten. I didn't know what was wrong.

So I came home from the hospital armed to the teeth with drugs and two children who were freaked out and two grandchildren who wanted to lay on my lap because they were scared. It's good to be loved. I could hardly sleep that night. It was so painful and every time I had to cough I thought I would die. Then, last weekend I came down with a killer cold. Just what I needed. I'm almost better but it has been a long haul. I have a doctor's appointment on Friday. We moved so it's a new doctor and new clinic.

And this is why I haven't been blogging much, answering my emails or coming by your blogs. My apologies. I hope to be better soon.

Cheers,
Nancy

Had that last year. Horrible thing!

Please rest. You need that more than anything. It takes a long time to recover fully from bronchitis.

Get well soon! I have reflux so I know what heartburn can feel like. It can be scary when its that pronounced.

Oh, Nancy, how dreadfully dreadful for you: bronchitis and then a cold!
I had chronic bronchitis until I was 30, and at times when it turned acute and I had to be hospitalized with oxygen, and with teams of nurses pounding on my back while I lay upside down on a board.
A nightmare. I don't know why it went away, but I'm sure glad it did.
I hope this was a one-off event and it never happens to you again.

Ahhh honey, I am sooo sorry. I have suffered with asthma my entire life. When I get sick, that is where it goes, into my lungs!

Prayers for a safe recovery!

This is so scary! I'm actually in the process of recovering from bronchitis myself - it seems I get it every year. Although mine just took me out of work for a couple of days, didn't send me to the hospital. Glad you're doing better!

Sorry you are feeling so poorly. I have had the same thing so I know what it is like. I enjoyed meeting you in Denver and will be blogging about it soon. Still trying to get caught up.

Feel better soon :) sipping warm water helps when I get severe asthma - not as hard on a raw throat.

Hi Nancy! I'm so sorry to hear you've been unwell. Lovely that you have a family to care about you though! I hope you can rest up, not do much except concentrate on getting well.
