If you would like to make your Facebook page more private here is a message that you can copy and post. Make sure you read this several times if you're like me or you might click the wrong thing when applying it to someone else.
To all my FB friends, may I request you to please do something for me: I want to stay PRIVATELY connected with you. However, with the recent changes in FB, the public can now see activities in any wall. This happens when our friend hits "like" or "comment", automatically, their friends would see our posts too. Unfortunately, we cannot change this setting by ourselves because Facebook has configure...d it this way. So I need your help. Only you can do this for me. PLEASE place your mouse over my name above (do not click), a window will appear, now move the mouse on “FRIENDS" (also without clicking), then down to "Settings", click here and a list will appear. REMOVE the CHECK on "COMMENTS & LIKE" by clicking on it. By doing this, my activity amongst my friends and my family will no longer become public. Many thanks! Paste this on your wall so your contacts would follow suit too, that is, if you care about your privacy.

Now for a little writing news. I have recently learned that short stories are hot. We're talking e-books here. If you want to do something that will help readers find you as a writer, why not write short stories? 2,500 words, a little less, a little more. When I talked to my daughter about this she said everyone at work was talking about short stories and how they love them because their lives are so busy they can actually finish one. That encouraged me.

FB certainly has its place. I have both a private/family act and a writers acc't, but find they are merging. We have to expect some nasties with all this at times anti-social media. Overall, I love
FB and think it's added so much to our lives.
Thanks for the shout out for RFW. I think we've all improved so much - why wouldn't we, writing to prompts every second Friday and getting feedback. I often extend mine and submit them as short stories to magazines. I'm also working on a novella from one of my RFW stories, and this is not unusual. Others are also!

I like Facebook, but I NEVER post anything personal there and I don't care about the minutia of somebody else's life. I've reunited with many old friends and family there, but other than that, I really only use it to post links to new blog posts. Actually, I rarely even do that.

I used to be like that, but now I've discovered a lot of writers who use Facebook to promote their books and even post updates. The games, well, I'd never started to play if I hadn't been sick.
