Malware

Hello everyone. In today's world we don't just have to worry about all the virus' we get; flu, colds, you name it. Now we have computer virus' too. I got malware last week. I've purged my blog, strengthened my security, contacted McAfree, (aren't they supposed to stop it in the first place?) and generally been frustrated to death.

Now I've discovered that malware is in every word document I have on my computer. There are dozens. All my  stories, all the notes for my stories and all our personal documents too. So I will be calling McAfree again and they will want money to fix it. Excuse me, aren't I already paying you?

If you've been here this last week check your system. Sorry if I gave you the bug.

Update: bookblogger attached malware to my blog. If you liked them on Facebook or else where, unlike and check your blog.

Update: Francine Howarth emailed me a link for Microsoft. I went there, found the program for my computer and downloaded it and hurray, I'm saved. All my files are clean. You have no idea how up set I was. Thank you, thank you Francine. Here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

What a royal pain in the ass!

Hope they can get it fixed. I just ran a security check. Hopefully, it's on the ball!

Good luck!

Sorry to hear about all the malware. And thanks for the heads-up about bookblogger!

Unfortunately,Yolanda, my security system did not catch it. Hope yours does.

Hi Golden
Aggravating but I had to pass along the information.

Thank you both for being brave and coming to my blog.

Well, I'm so glad you got it fixed, but I agree that McAfree should have caught that bug. I hope you get it all sorted out without it costing you much. Thats just a shame.

Ugh! That's awful. I'm so sorry you went through that, but at least you have a decent security company to help you and you found the culprit. Too bad you can't make them pay somehow...

I'm glad you were able to fix it Nancy, but i'm not sure bookblogger is actually to blame. They may have been infected somewhere else. Perhaps messages will turn up on our computers saying you had malware problems, but it wasn't your fault. It's a house of horrors alright!
People who are very techno savvy know how to google the answer to these problems and you get told what software you need to do a proper cleanup - all free. I had a young person point me in that direction when I got a virus last year. Maybe if you can find a techno person they can help you. You shouldn't have to pay McAfee.

Hi Lexa
I'm in the middle still but hope to finish up soon.

Hi Denise
Okay, maybe bookblogger isn't to blame but I don't think I'll take a chance on them again.

I don't know any techno people at the moment and haven't had a chance to call McAfree again. This has put a stop to my writing until it's resolved. So frustrating.

Thanks for coming by.

Sorry to hear you've had malware on your computer, Nancy. I think you'd be able to get free clean up software on the computer, as long as it's from a reputable company. Please google it and you'll soon find a name that you know and trust. The instructions are easy to follow too. All the best in this week's RFW challenge. Have a great week.

Thanks Adura, I'll give that a try.
