Faerie Honey Moon

Prince Silver Dust gazed upon his beautiful bride, Willow Spring. Their wedding nuptials were concluded and now it was time to leave the reception and travel across the dusty plains of his lands and visit Dripping Bee, Queen of the Bees, for her blessing. Silver Dust parted with his family and held tight to Willow Spring's hand. Her green ribbon hair flowed around the sprigs of her dress as she turned brilliant blue eyes on him. Theirs was an unusual wedding. The tree fae and dust fae rarely spoke let alone wed. Silver hoped to change that with this marriage. He hoped to change much among his people.

"How shall Dripping Bee receive us?" Willow asked.

"We will see," Silver said. He wished to reassure Willow but truth was he didn't know.

A gentle breeze greeted them and ushered them into the Queen's presence. A whisper of humming surrounded them as the hive came alive with the Queen's call to her workers. Willow curtsied while Silver bowed.

"You have challenged the law of the fae to inter-wed with each other," the Queen said. "Is this because of love, or do you wish to create a new standard?"

"Love drew us together," Willow said.

"I could think of no other once I saw her," Silver added. "At night the wind whispered her name to me. During the day the sun spoke of her green valley. I traveled there often just to gaze upon her beauty."

Willow smiled and her long slender fingers dripped with dew.

"No answer could be better spoken," Dripping said. "Come, dip your feet in my honey under the full moon and all will see my approval."

Silver drew Willow to him. His twilight enhanced dust settled on her shoulders. Together they sat on the honeycomb ledge and removed their shoes. Sparkling green toes and silver dust feet met the honey together. For Silver the sticky liquid implied that his love for Willow was sealed in time. Two worker bees approached and used a damp towel to wash the faerie feet. Shoes on again, Silver and Willow approached the Queen.

"What place do you desire to travel to for your honeymoon?"

"Clear Creek just outside of Georgetown, Colorado," Silver said. "We are to meet with the Aspen Fae and learn the colors of a Rocky Mountain autumn."

"My sister is queen there," Dripping said. "I will send her a message of your visit. I'm sure she would welcome news of me and our lands."

Silver bowed, "I will be honored to pass along any message you may bestow on me."

"Then let her know that the human farmers of this place welcome us. The corn is sweet and the wheat is strong. Tell her that all is well with me and I have so far born over a million workers."

At last Silver and Willow climbed on the backs of the two worker bees that would carry them more than four hundred miles to their destination. Laughter came easily to Willow, and Silver knew his life would be more satisfying because of his choice in bride. When at long last they reached the Aspen fae, they were given a faerie den decorated with lupines and daisies. Within they embraced and held each other until loving left them glowing with delight. In the morning they gazed upon the mountain goats that traipsed down steep embankments to drink in Clear Creek. Deer, raccoon and chipmunks were plentiful. Humans remained mostly in Georgetown, an old mining town.

The aspen trees tinkled their song with each passing breeze. The colors of gold transformed their green leaves. The faerie that tended this forest also transformed from spring green to the golden hues of autumn. In winter they would take on a white flaky appearance.

"I shall love you forever," Silver whispered in Willows ear.

"And I you."

"Shall our fae babes be green or silver?"

"One of each and a dozen more," Willow said. They laughed and kissed enjoying the autumn colors.

I hope you enjoyed it.

I have a new friend that I want to take a moment to introduce, Bev Sninchak. She wears many hats, among them are novelist, editor and creative writing teacher. She offers affordable online classes and editing for your manuscript. We all know how important a good editor is and having one go over our manuscript before we submit it to an agent, publisher or contest is a must. If you are self published, you don't want to skip this process. Bev offers a full range of editing options that are affordable and she can even do the e-book formatting for you too. She has both a blog, Intrepid Word Slinger and a professional website, Abraxas Writing & Editing Services. Click on either to view. I strongly encourage all of you to check her out.

Hi Madeleine
I am a happy ending sort of gal, but you never know. There are the occasional unhappy endings even for me. Thanks for coming by.

Hi Denise
So glad you liked my fun little story. After reading the others I felt mine lacked a great deal, but I wanted to have fun with it so I guess I did do that.

I'm glad you will be passing along Bev's info.
