Ask Me A Question Thursday: Kick off

You get to ask a question. I’ll help you out to get started.

My current WIP (Work In Progress) is titled: The Treasures of Carmelidrium. It is high fantasy. The manuscript is finished and I’m currently scouring the book for ‘ly’ and ‘ing’ words to see if I can make the sentences stronger and get rid of these adverbs. See side bar to follow my progress.

I am also working on a novella. I have about 1,000 words written. This is sitting on the shelf waiting for my madness in the edits of my high fantasy to end. My novella is a series and features a Phoenix heroine.

Both books are a series actually.

So ask about my books, my writing or my life. I will post a short answer in the comments and next Thursday I will post a more in-depth answer to one or more questions.

P.S. Jessica Bell is having a giveaway.

I'll go back to your writing roots. What made you decide to actually write a book? Do you remember when that spark took hold, and what incident, or words, or thoughts, brought it to life?

Which one do you like the most?

If you could go back in time, what year would you type into your time machine?

Great questions all.
Joanne, yours requires a longer post and I will answer it next week.

Alex, I like both stories. They are so different. My high fantasy is my baby though. I write in third person from multiple view points. I love knowing what all the characters are thinking. Of course, not all the characters get to voice their opinion. Just those that are necessary. Phoenix is first person and my first attempt at writing that way. For a long time I didn't think I could write in first person. But to my surprise I can.

Clarissa, that is a tough question. I suppose if I could go back in time it would either be during the Revolutionary War or when the Mayflower landed. Either way, I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut. I'd want to encourage everyone. There in lies the problem. My Big Mouth.

How do you know your novella is going to be novella? What if it turns into a full length story?

Good question Jessica. I know the novella will be just that because I have planned it that way. I have multiple story lines planed throughout our history. It will be approximately 20,000 words. I plan to sell this online only. After I have completed all the stories, I may publish them all together in one book.

I tend to be a little sarcastic. One of my ideas is to visit Robin Hood. The title, 'Fire in the Hood.' It makes me laugh. Whether I actually do that remains to be seen.

Thanks for asking.

Ok Nancy,
You had me at "Fire in the Hood." As a fellow rider on the sarcasm wagon, I have to ask, how do you reign in the straight man?

Nancy, have you been able to develop a daily writing habit, or do you just write whenever?

Hi Patricia: Unfortunately I am interrupted a lot by a happy couple of three year olds. I try to maintain a schedule but it often goes the way of the Dodo bird.
