Harry Potter Blogfest

Since I signed up for two blogfest in one day, I posted the Midwinter blogfest first and this one after I hope you will visit both post and leave comments for each.

Now for the: Harry Potter Blogfest hosted by Michael at In Time…

Rules: In honor of HP, I would like to have an HP blogfest. In 500 words, I would like you to create a scene with any of the HP characters from any of the seven books. It could be anything you want. Funny, magical, serious, etc. And for an added twist, let's have it set during the holidays. Christmas or Thanksgiving.

Christmas at the Weasleys

Mr. Weasley brought out his newest muggle toy. “Let’s see how this works.”

Fred and George helped him install the turkey fryer outside.

“Be careful,” Mrs. Weasley called from the door.

“Yes, Mum.” The twins said together.

“Not to worry.” Mr. Weasley rubbed his hands together. “Add the oil Fred.”

George complied; Fred retrieved the turkey from the kitchen.

“Now, how do I turn it on?” Mr. Weasley asked.

Hermione joined the Weasley bunch as they gathered to watch the new muggle machine make dinner. “Electricity,” she said.

Mr. Weasley scratched his head. “Hmm, that does pose a problem. We don’t have electricity. Not to worry, not to worry.”

Mr. Weasley waived his wand, hot oil bubbled in the fryer, and Fred dropped the turkey in. Woosh, fire shot out, licked the air and ignited the dried grass. Mr. Weasley quickly quenched it all with drenching water from a magical bucket. The smell of burned oil and turkey lingered.

“Dangerous contraption the muggles have here, how ever do they manage it?” asked Mr. Weasley.

The End

How Mrs. Weasley must love her husband to put up with his muggle obsession! I always wanted to visit their family during Christmas. Now, thanks to you I have. Merry Christmas!

My husband once had a similar run-in with a turkey fryer (too bad we didn't have a magical bucket!).

Holidays with the Weasleys would be lots of fun! Cute ideas here.

TOO CUTE Nancy,

I had a big chuckle. It seems Christmas at the Weasley's is popular this year. I myself would love to spend a Christmas with them. I love Mrs. Weasley, she always makes we laugh.

Great job on the comedy...

Thank you so much for entering and thanks for the comments. I did move up the linky for easier viewing. I had wanted everyone to see Cassandra's cute poem first. But it's more important for everyone to read the entries first.

I see those turkey fryers on commercial Erica and Christy and always think of disasters. LOL. Thanks for dropping by.

I know its not the most sophisticated post out there Michael, but I couldn't resist writing about the Weasley's and all those mishaps that might occur. I'm glad you like it.

It would be a fabulous time to spend the holidays with the Weasley's Emma. Worth the price of the airfare for me from the U.S. Oh wait, maybe they could come and pick me up in their magical car.

Thank you all for dropping by and leaving a comment.

Considering all those people that burn their houses down trying to deep fry a turkey... it's a wonder those things are still on the market! Is it really worth it? I'll take my turkey from the oven, thanks!

N. R. Williams said...

Yes, Arthur does make for a great character Dominic.

Yeah, turkey fryers are really scary C. A.

Thank you both for dropping in and leaving a comment.

When you compare technology to magic, there really is no contest. :D

I enjoyed reading the blogfest entry!

N. R. Williams said...

You've got that right Golden. LOL Now if magic were real in the way it is in Harry Potter we would have some fun. Minus 'he who must not be named,' of course.

I love Mr. Weasley's fascination with muggle appliances. Fred and George in unison. Hermione as the resident muggle expert.
It's great that even wizards screw up their turkey. :)

Yeah, a resident muggle expert. LOL I think I'll have a sign made with that on it for my front door Erin.
